Content Supplied by NHS Choices

Are You a Carer?

Do you look after a friend or relative who can not look after themselves? If you have answered yes then your probably a carer and help is available.

If you are please let us know - we may be able to help you

Vassall Medical Centre is not only seeking to better inform all our carers but also to identify those who may not consider themselves a carer but are.

Working with a patient carer and Patient Participation Group member we have produced a Carers Pack and set up a carers peer support group (set up from feedback at the Carers Month in February 2017* see Previous Events page). You can download the Carers Pack by clicking here.

The VMC Carers Group (peer support group) will be meeting on the following dates -

Saturday 28th October— 12 to 2pm

Tuesday 31st October— 10am to 12pm and 6pm to 8pm

Saturday 25th November— 12 to 2pm

Tuesday 28th November—10am to 12pm

Tuesday 12th December— 6 to 8pm

Below you will find further information taken from the NHS Choices website concerning carers -

There is a wealth of information on NHS Choices about carers and caring. Below are some links into the site that we hope you will find useful.

  • Telling people

Caring responsibilities can make it difficult to maintain friendships or develop new ones. Telling your friends you're a carer is important so they understand and can support you.

  • Taking a break

Caring for someone can be a full-time job, but it's essential that you take time out for yourself too. Read our guide to accessing breaks and respite.

  • Housing and carers

Do you know your tenancy rights as a carer? Are you aware of all your care at home options? Do you need tips on moving someone around the home?
