What are we changing?
At the moment, most appointments at the surgery are booked by calling our reception team.
Over the coming months, the main way to request an appointment will be by completing a simple online form.
- The form is quick and easy to use.
- It allows you to tell us what you need help with and describe your symptoms in your own words.
- Once submitted, your request will be reviewed by a member of our clinical team, who will decide the most appropriate care for you.
If you are not confident using technology, please don’t worry:
- We offer weekly support sessions every Thursday with our IT Manager, who can help you learn how to use the system.
- Our reception team will still be available, both in person and over the phone, to support you and help complete the form if needed.
Why are we making this change?
Our current system means that patients who are able to call early in the morning often have an advantage when booking appointments. This can be unfair and stressful, and it does not always ensure that patients receive the most appropriate care.
With the new system:
- Every request is treated equally, regardless of when it is submitted.
- Your request is reviewed by a clinically trained professional
- This helps us decide the safest and most appropriate way to help you — whether that is a GP appointment, another member of the clinical team, advice, or signposting to other services.
Overall, this approach is fairer, safer, and more efficient for everyone.
When will this happen?
We are currently training our staff and testing the new process.
Because of this, we do not yet have a fixed start date.
However, the change will take place within the next few months.
We are sharing this information now so that you have plenty of time to prepare and feel confident about the new way of requesting appointments.
We will keep you updated and provide clear instructions before the change goes live.
Need help or have questions?
Our team is always happy to help. Please speak to reception or attend one of our weekly IT support sessions if you would like assistance.
